Hi, I just recently settled with RBS on a loan that was paid off in 2005. The reason for mis-selling was that it was a single premium policy. RBS, to be fair, responded very quickly and offered me £2K. The slowest part was getting the cheque which took @ 28 days.
So, in answer to your question, yes - well worth having a go!
I have sent my SAR into RBS looking for details on a loan with PPI on it. This loan was settled late in 2004, can I still claim the PPI refund?
In a word YES provided you have a valid reason to claim the PPI was mis-sold.
Please read the stickies at the top of the forum and you will also see my fight with RBS it took a year but I got back over £10k so the reclaiming is worth the fight.
Read up and study then gather the information then claim back your money.

Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
