Lloyds TSB Withdraw From Current Accnt To Pay CC

Hi Guys,

Just had a quick question and was wondering if someone can help me. I had problems with my own credit card about a year ago and it got to the stage that Lloyds icon

took the money right out of my account. It was a Lloyds credit card and current account. Having just been laid off I was doing some temp work and as soon as I got paid I had to rush to a cash machine and withdraw the cash so that I would have enough money to pay rent.

Thankfully I am now all ok, back in permanent work and credit card debt under control – however my girlfriend recently lost her job – she has an RBS icon

current account and credit card, has already missed one payment on her RBS credit card and is likely to miss another. Does anyone know if RBS will take money out of her account or is it safe if we leave it in there?

Most banks will do this if you have outstanding balances on c/c's and loans. Both Lloyds icon

and Halifax icon

did this to me when I placed the accounts in dispute over miss sold PPI icon

It will be in terms and conditions icon

of the current account that they can offset money from a current account to pay outstanding accounts elsewhere within their group.

If GF has an account with the same bank c/c is with well worth swopping to another current account with another bank for salary/wages to be paid into, or they will just keep helping themselves to pay outstanding accounts

Will they only take money from the same bank or can lloydstsb icon

take from Halifax icon

for example as they are the same company?

no only Lloyds icon

credit card could take funds from a Lloyds current account, they are not authorised to remove funds from another bank account unless you have a direct debit icon

set up.
If in doubt open a basic current account with a bank that you have no other account with (loans or c/c's)

Natwest icon

do a basic step account which you can apply for online, will give you a solo debit card too if application approved
