Dear all,

I could really do with some help here please.

My husband worked in Pembrokeshire Council for a while and rented an apartment for 3 months. He was only there in the week and came home mid-week and in the weekends. The rent he paid for the apartment included Council Tax.

Since he left, I have been receiving letters from Pembrokeshire Council demanding Council Tax. They were addressed to a Mrs. R. ****.

There are a few issues here:

a. I have never lived in Pembrokeshire, my husband did, so why they sent me letters, I have no idea. Also the initial R. is wrong, and my surname is wrong too (I have a double barrel surname, and they only mention the last part).

b. My husband kept replying to their letters, explaining that he had already paid the Council Tax through his rent, and that they should approach the Letting Agency. He also gave them HIS name.

c. They are charging for full Council Tax, even though we are paying full Council Tax to the Council where we reside. So even if my husband is liable to pay (if the Letting Agency haven't passed on the Council Tax), he should only pay a partial amount, as he was not a full resident in Pembrokeshire Council.

He has sent them 2 letters now, explaining the situation. They have totally ignored them, never even replied.

And I have now had Removal Notice addressed to me, who has never even lived in Pembrokeshire Council, from Bailiffs demanding immediate payment of Council Tax. I know there's no point really talking to the bailiffs, as they are on Pembrokeshire Council's instructions.

How can we resolve this please? I'm sick with worry. I am also foreign, and considered a vulnerable person I believe?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

it will not hurt to phone the ctax unit and get a human direct on it to sort it.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

hi DX,

Thanks.

My husband has just phoned them and they're confused as well. They've now called the bailiffs off and are looking into it, and will get back to him. Fingers crossed.
