Ok only going by what i saw on this tv show regarding when you have a car on HP and it goes wrong/has engine troubles.
We have had two cars from the same garage on HP through Black Horse and both have had engine troubles after a few months. The first one had a major problem and cost us over 1000 to fix and now after paying off the old one and buying a new car four months later we are having engine troubles again.
Now Dom showed us on his show that because your car is on HP which of course means you are hiring it until you have made Full and final payments the car actually does not belong to you and therefore is not your responsibility if it goes wrong as it is not your car in the eyes of the law.His adventure was with WF and of course they denied any of this until Dom pushed and pushed and was found to be correct and they paid for the car to be sorted.
Question is....is this a correct practice or does it differ from company to company, the way he told it thought it was all cars on HP
No that is exactly how it is. You are only hiring the car and it belongs to the finance house. However, that does not mean that you will always get what Dom got. You will be the one benefitting from a new engine and I think any claim against you to share the cost would be upheld.
They would just have wanted Dom and the BBC out of their hair.
As to repairs on the car you are now having trouble with, when did you buy it and how many miles have you put on the clock since you have had it?
What is the problem you are having?

Had the car four months and its done about 3000 miles. It has to have a diagnostics test to see exactly what it is as a three warning lights keep coming on
You will have six months to show that it is an inherent fault with the car, so the diagnosis you are having done should show up the problem, but maybe not the exact cause.
Have you been in contact with the finance company and the seller yet?

Have been in touch with the company we purchased it from his attitude was to find out what is wrong first.
So legally if something is wrong is it down to the garage/finance company to pay?
Have you been in touch with the finance company?
Have you had the diagnostic carried out yet?
As you have had it four months, you will be deemed to have accepted the car but that does not diminish your right to repair or replacement.
