Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights

I am looking for advice as to claiming back costs for repairing a product about two years old.
The item is a Stoves cooker costing over £600 and was purchased June 2004.
It had to be repaired under the warranty in Sept 2004 and now in Aug 2006 the same parts, spark generator and associated bits, that were replaced then have gone again.
Stoves tell me it will costs me over £100 to get it fixed.
My argument being, should a cooker costing that much being going twice in that space of time.
Any advice/ opinion welcomed.
if the warranty was for 12 months then after 12 months they dont have to repair it.
the parts they replaced in sept 04 will also only have had a 12 month warranty ( to sept 05)
you can try pleading with them and arguing its only just over 2 years old but i wouldnt hold out much hope.
What are the associated bits?
A spark generator is quite a cheap part unless its an electronic one.
Even then probably only £25 or so.
Have u tried a corgi engineer for a repair quote, assuming that is a gas stove?

Thanks for the reply, but what I was trying to get guidance on the followig which appears to give protection beyond the makers 12 month warranty http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/CAG.php ie
Consumer legislation at least since 1979 has imposed a duty
"upon retailers that the goods which they sell must be of merchantable quality. This requirement has more recently been mainly re-badged so that goods must now be "satisfactory".
This has been taken by the courts to mean that a product must work and must remain working for a reasonable period of time
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in any given field legally and my advice and that of the Consumer Action Group and the Bank Action Group is given without prejudice and without liability so please if in any doubt whatsoever seek help from an insured qualified professional. Contents of my posts are purely my own personal opinions and not condoned or endorsed in any way, shape or form by CAG. Thank you!
OK get back in touch with stoves and argue that when you bought the cooker it developed a fault within 3 months of being new. The fact that the same parts have gone again indicate that the parts they are using are not fit for the intended purpose. If you make enough noise they may well offer to repair it for free. then you will have a further 12 months warranty on said parts.
Good luck
