last april i went to car craft to view a few cars and got pressuered into buying a 2006 vauxhall astra sri great car and i must say i did fall in love with it,, in april this year i lost my job and started having problems with making the payments of 310 pounds a monthso they said i can pay 100 pounds a month till i get back into work i still struggled with thease payments and last month CREDIT STYLE called me to say they want the car back !!! as i was in no possition to pay arrears i had to accept the car going back so i just told them to collect it... thinking now mayb a big mistake ! i bought the car for 13 thousand and once intrest was put on it went to 18 thousand  so on the date of collection when they repossed the car my total balance was 15895 pounds so this morning i go to grab the post and CREDITSTYLE has sent me a letter saying they have sold the car and need the outstanding amount cleared which is ready ,,,,, 8832.25p can this be right ?????? i have called them to ask how much they sold the car for and they said as the car was on h.p they have the right to keep that information to them selfs. so now they want over 8 grand back but wont even say how much they sold it for... this is getting very confussing and putting stress on me and my partner but where do i stand very very very much need help guys and girls thanks louise x
I would have thought that you are entitled to ask them to "prove the debt". Surely they cannot just magic up a figure and say that you owe them that amount.
thats what we are thinking geoff as it crazy they can just ask for a sum of money without any proof... the agreement was over 5 years and paid ffor a year before loosing my job
see i would have thought they have to lower the amount of intrest if they have sold the car and got a certain amount back
