This is a comment made by alanalana on another thread. It looks as though the fosicon will look at claims as far back as 1995.

As Middenmess points out this is a load of waffle the FOS will actually take on cases prior to 1995 . They are now aware that financial institutions are using this ploy as a way to halt any potential complaint being submitted. My advice bang in a complaint to the FOS. Firstly it will cost Black Horse a £500 fee to be paid to the FOS and the FOS are getting a bit miffed at the financial institutions advising complainants what the FOS can and cannot do.

    FOS complaint see this......

our complaints procedure and how to complain

My third complaint to the FOS was submitted today for a Capital Oneicon refusal.
Have you all the paperwork you require to start a complaint ?. If not you should send a Subject access requesticon to the companies concerned asking for all the information they hold on you.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition, they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to have happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI Insurance has been sorted. Now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

    Hi Steve

As citB says in theory you can go back to 1995 - aa will confirm this as he had a success with one dating from 1998 I believe - and we have recently had complaints taken on by the fosicon for PPI on 4 ltsbicon loans dating from 2000, 2001 and 2003. These were all settled early in 2002 and 2004.

It might be an idea to give the FOS a call first though. We did and they told us that the date the loan was taken out is immaterial, its the mis-selling that matters.

However, at least one forum member has similarly called the FOS about PPI dating from around this time (early noughties) and been told the FOS cannot investigate

    Good luck!

    Regards,

    Landy x
