29 'Late Payments' Destroyed my Credit Rating. please help!
Hi all,
I have been in real trouble over the last couple of years, I'll give a brief summary:
In december 07 I went overdrawn by a couple of quid and A+L charged me £5 a day, eventually ending in £405 worth of bank charges which I am now disputing and am now awaiting the test case to complete.
My problem is that A+L are issuing 'late payment' entries on my credit report every month, adding up to a total of 29 to date.
I am now in a position where I cannot obtain any credit at all. Banks won't even let me open an account with them, I'm not allowed debit cards, phone contracts or anything that requires a credit check.
This has totally crippled me, despite the face I earn a relatively comfortable salary and am able to afford debit cards/phone contracts etc!
Are A+L allowed to be doing this to me? Surely if its under dispute they can't keep adding late payments to my report every month?!
Please, any help with this would be much appreciated.

I had a similar problem, although only lasted 3 months before they closed my account and added the defult to my credit file.
Nobody has been able to give me any advice so far either, so I'm considering putting the credit reference agencies on notice. Not sure what effect this will have on my credit file though?

Hi Crispin,
I have a similar problem with A &L. I had three late payment markers which have wrecked my credit rating. They have written off the 'Debt" closed my account and wont even let me pay it to clear my name. It is all bank charges.
I have issued proceedings under the part 8 procedure which is used when there is only a matter of law to decide, not facts. They have put in a notice saying that that procedure is incorrect as facts are in dispute. The There are no facts in dispute.
There is a directions hearing on the 6th October at Kingston county court. I have applied to get the markers removed.
