Default smile PPI - need help with calculating please

    Hi all

    Smile loan + PPIicon.
I know the loan is enforceable but PPI is useless to me because of my existing medical condition plus I was never told I could buy it elsewhere.

I have looked on various threads to glean the info I need but haven't been able to find anything similar so please can you help?

I have no idea how to work out what they owe me cos I just can't get my head around the figures

I have attached the loan agreement + statements so if anyone can work it out & post me the spreadsheet I would be so grateful (another donationicon to this fab site )

    Thank you

You should be claiming back xx months @ £15.10 per month plus contractual interesticon at 18.1% and then add statutory interest @ 8%

you can use this calculator to work out the contractual interest (Compound).......Compound interest calculator

and this one to work out the 8% simple interest.......

Blake Lapthorn - simple interest calculator

If you have questions best put to pompeyfaith. Who is about to get a result on his own claim.

    Put figures into compound calc & came up with £19.83 so x 8% is £1.59. 19 months @ £15.10 = £286.90 plus £19.83 plus £1.59 = £308.32.

PF - please would you double check these figures for me cos I don't want to be asking for the wrong amount!

    Thank you

MKB bit confused here why are you not claiming back the PPIicon premium of £425.05?

Although you will not get this back in your pocket as the loan i not paid up you still need to claim it so it can be paid back into the loan there by reducing the amount owed.

Yes spot on, just remember to put in your letter that you want the premium returned to the loan there by reducing amount owed. and what you have paid to this PPIicon monthly returned to you.

Final (and only!) response today. I claimed because of my existing medical conditions but see in their letter they also said about self-employment. IMO this makes it even more mis-soldicon!

    Hiya mkb,

That letter is -rap and a fob off the first letter always is from the co-op/smile

Now bearing in mind that the fosicon is very likely to take considerable time in resolving your complaint I believe another letter and i further 14 days for them to reflect will do no harm.

I also noticed they did not at all address your medical conditions in that letter so I believe they have not fully investigated your complaint.

As per the FSA's latest update on PPIicon redress last tuesday they and the FOS take a very dim view of complaints being sent to them that have not been fully investigated.

So with that in mind and the links below give them a further 14 days after which the complaint will go to the FOS.

FSA unveils tough measures to protect PPI consumers

    http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/cp/cp09_23.pdf

Have a good read of the links above as they will help you in composing your next letter.

Head the letter like thus also:

    letter before actionicon

    Regards

    PF

Cheers for that PF. Must admit I was pretty surprised that there was no mention of existing conditions BUT they volunteered the info that I was self-employed

Rang fosicon who are sending me out a form but it wouldn't do any harm to pen another to Co-op in the meantime so I'll get that off today.

Am guessing you're happy about Saturdays result  but what on earth is happening with finance/ownership of your club???
I'm a red through & through so was mighty relieved when we managed to scrape a 2 - 2 draw against a very good performance by Sunderland.

Pompey lol the sage continues it appears from the press yesterday that the club have been sold again to the al-farje brothers with al-famin holding onto 10% and becoming a non-exec director.

But yes the win was good and it and others where not for trying.
