Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've been looking at this forum for a few weeks now, and it's made me think I may be able to reclaim some money from a debt I paid off a few years ago.
Around 10 years ago, I took out a loan with Egg, which I paid off 7 years ago when I had a windfall. However, I'm pretty sure I was paying PPI on this loan, which would have been missold (based on everything I've read here over the last few weeks - I have Diabetes, and was never asked about this when I applied for the loan). Even though it was such a long time ago, would I still be able to get back the money I paid for PPI? To complicate things further, it's unlikely I will be able to find the paperwork from this loan (I've learned since then that it's important to hang onto this stuff!). Will they honour a SAR with just my name, address and date of birth, without any information about the original policy?
Thanks for your advice on this.

Cannot give you a definative answer but there is no harm in trying.
I would try and find something to identify you were a customer.
If you send a SAR with the £10 fee, best to use a postal order as this allows you to check with the post office to see when it was encashed.
Also send the SAR recorded delivery to you track the letter.

Please do not PM me for advice as it may be sometime before I can respond.
Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
