Will PPI cancellation + threatening action encourage CC company to cancel my account?
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, so pardon my ignorance - I've just starting looking into PPI on my credit card today.
I wanted to ask if anyone had experience of credit card companies cancelling their accounts because they tried to reclaim mis-sold PPI? My payments to my cc company have always been on time, so I am not eligible for reclaiming any charges and am up to date with all payments in full... but I have just noticed on my most recent statement that there is something called "repayment option plan" (which was for a fairly large amount this month because I spent a bit more this month - so that's why I took notice of it this time) - I don't ever remember requesting it, it goes up and down in price each month and I previously thought it was something I had to have as it's for a sub prime credit card - with Vanquis. From what I remember at the time of opening the account (which I think I did online, but can't really recall), there were 2 options that you had to choose from either pay an annual fee for a repayment plan, or pay it monthly according to expenditure - but I don't think there was a choice to opt out and choose neither, at the time.
I know I will need to apply for my SAR to get this info, but I wanted to find out if my cc company could cancel my card in response to me taking action against them for mis-sold PPI? I don't really want to jeopardise my account, as my credit rating isn't great - so I might not get accepted for another one. Any advice would be appreciated.
I'd also like any advice on what my next steps should be?... Cancel PPI first, then get SAR, if my cca shows that I was mis-sold, then write to the cc company to request they refund me?
If anyone has had successes claiming PPI from Vanquis, I'd love to hear about it.
