Paid a cheque for £600 into my Smile bank account last monday via the post office, have deposited cheques with them regularly for years, never had a problem.
Obtained receipt acknowledging deposit. However this cheque simply never got credited to my account. Went back to post office, spoke to the clerk , clerk adamant that cheque had been sent to bank clearning centre. Bank being very polite but basically fobbing me off.
It's possible, but would be very inconvenient to get cheque issuer to re-issue cheque.
