The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
my claim against is being handled by SCM. it's for 1500; we're at the aq stage, i've got the form in front of me right now with a cheque for the fee...
i'm tempted to give SCM a ring (got the number and contact name for the person handling the case) and ask if they want to settle before i submit the AQ, which i'm planning to do tonight.
the question is, will such action prejudice my case? or should i just chance it and pick up the phone?
it would be better if you keep your posts in your main thread then folks can see the history behind your questions. A Mod will be along later to join them.
Firstly when does your aq have to be back by ? There should be a date on the front.
If this is a while off then you can write/email them to try negotiating. It won't prejudice your case if it goes to court, but the bank may think they can get away with paying you a bit less.
A few people have managed to get settlement over the phone but you need to get it in writing before accepting anything, and if your AQ's are due in soon you might still have to submit them before you get confirmation of settlement, then your settlement may not include your AQ fee.
Its up to you, and depends when your AQ has to be in by.
