Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
To say im disgusted and appaulded by the way i have been treated by tesco this week is an understatement to say the least. On Tuesday I went to the Haywards Heath Tesco Express branch to get lunch and a few bits and bobs. Gathered what I wanted to buy and went over to the tills to pay. The clerk serving me scanned through my items and placed them in a bag, I paid by card..... put card into the machine, entered my pin and saw my transaction go through. Another customer came over to the tills and advised staff that two people had just walked out without paying, two members of tesco staff followed. I turned back to collect the shopping that I just purchased and to leave the stop. As I turned back the clerk accused me of not paying and took my card off me. She then said in a loud voice in front of other customers that I was an accomplice to the shoplifters and now I am trying to shoplift the stuff i have just paid for!!! she then went on and took the money again (i have a bank statement showing both transactions).
Obvioulsy I have made a complaint to tesco about this. Received an email today asking me to contact the store manager to discuss it further. I called her and she turned round and called me a liar....... so not only have i been accused of shoplifting, accomplice to shoplifters and am now also a liar as well!!!!

NEVER EVER - act on a private message asking you to visit another website, make contact 'off list' or by telephone
- alert the siteteam IMMEDIATELY by hitting the black warning triangle on any message - Particularly if this results in a request to pay a fee to help you.
rather than hittting to be my friend - hit the star
Write a strongly worded letter to the customer service dept telling them you are considering legal proceedings because of the action of 2 members of their staff. Outline the incident and tell them that you expect a response within 7 days explaining the behaviour of their staff and a full apology.
Dont ask for anything, TELL them. You have to take control of this or they will just brush it off.
Enclose with the letter a copy of your statement with the duplicate amount highlighted.
It may even be worth hinting at the involvement of the media. Tescos in particular HATE the media, especially consumer programmes

I have contacted a couple of papers locally about it and have also writtan a response back in regard to my telephone coversation with the manager...... I wont let them brush me off at all, too angry to let that happen
I have just found an email address for Sir Terry Leahy (the CEO of Tesco) Stuff customer services, contact him directly and tell him you have attempted to resolve this with customer services and the manager of the local store but failed due to their attitude.
I have emailed him originally and got fobbed off and passed to someone else. I have also emailed him today what happened with the telephone conversation and he isnt around..... May well let them know I am getting media involved though.
Okay if they are ignoring emails then go back to the original idea of a strongly worded letter.. addressed to Leahy rather than customer services.
In the mean time, if you want to go down the media route, contact everyone you can think of.... from consumer programmes to magazine day time programmes....

If they continue to ignore your complaints, then I would consider contacting their legal team.
Looks like you could have recourse here for a damages claim.
