    Default Barclaycard reducing credit limit

    Hi
I don't know if this is in the right forum, but apologies if not.

My brother has just called me regarding his barclaycard.
They have reduced his credit limit, and upon him calling to find out why, they have told him it is due to all the people claimimg back their charges, and they now have to be seen as a 'responsible' bank.

If this is correct, then I think the people power may be beginning to have an impact.

This is really quite good news, although I doubt that is the reason at all - there's hardly been anyone claim jback from Barclaycard.

If it helps reduce the stupid levels of debt in this country then we've not only got them on the run with charges.

Maybe leopards can change their spots.

Hmmm, just seen your intresting comments re. Barclayard - I am fuming with them today. I have had a Barclaycard for over 20yrs with varous balances, sometimes nothing at all, I recently transferred a balance to my Barclaycard & have been paying off much more than the minimum amount per month.

Yet today I receive a letter telling me they are reducing my credit limit, that they have taken info. from their records & also from 'other sources' & this is why - it goes on to tell me how to manage my account 'properly'.

I am absolutely livid, whilst I didn not want to use the additional limit I had, what a rude letter - well Barclaycard you have just lost a Customer, not that I suppose they will care!

MMMMmmm. This is interesting as I have had the same problem with barclaycard and I think their conduct is absolutely appalling.

I have been a customer for over 20 years and had a balance transfer that I paid £150 balance transfer fee to use that service. Halfway through the agreed term, they took it upon themselves to change my credit limit to £35 below my current balance and then send me a letter to say that I had exceeded my limit with them and was being charged a fee, as well as losing my 0% deal as I had breached their conditions.

After almost an hour on the phone, they told me that it was changing market conditions but could give no sensible reason as to why they had adjusted it without letting me know first or why they had done it slightly less than my balance so that i would be forced to breach their terms without my knowledge.

They have refunded the charges and reinstated my credit limit and terms, but I have to say that this whole experience has left a horrible taste in my mouth and I am sure that other customers are being forced into the same situation that I have found myself in.

SHAME ON YOU BARCLAYCARD!! I would expect this behaviour from a loan shark but not one that I had previously considered one of the best. I am already moving my finances to another company that will treat their customers with more respect.
