Hi I was wondering if anyone could help. I had a few defalts put on my credit report a few years back and I am looking to get all my finance sorted but I was wondering what happens to my defalted debt after the six years if I dont pay it off? Will I get another Defalt for another six years? I only have 3 left now and only one is chasing me and dont have long left on them.
Hi,
As you've posted in the scotland forum, I'm assuming you are there.
I'm not sure whether the same applies to scotland as it does in england regarding credit reference agencies but under Scottish Law, if no money has been paid nor any acknowledgement of debt in a period of 5 years then it is statute barred.
The debt doesn't go away, just that the creditor cannot chase you for it.

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.
Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any advice given, you should see a qualified solicitor
and it will drop of your file after 6 years of default and cannot be re applied
