Just writing this to see if anyones had similar problems. Ive had Broadband with BT for the last 8 months or so. It was working fine up til a month ago, where upon it decided to work/stop working/work stop working. Had a BT engineer out, who could find nothing wrong...and its just carried on ever since. I know its not the PC, Im trying a new hub soon but I just wondered if its a common issue with BT?
There would be a national uprising if there was! Ideally you need a diagnotic tool to sit across your line and log the characteristic of the line. The are available, bot are quite pricey, especially if you only need to use it to find your fault.
ADSL is a kludge, it runs as an additional carrier over the standard voice network, so if there are issues that affect the voice circuit, this can bring down BB, which would otherwise be unaffected.
A commor problem is interference - losing it when the microwave is on! A quick fix is often to remove the bellwire (pin 3) from all the sockets carrying the ADSL signal.
