Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I parked my car in what I believed to be a legal spot and to my horror came back to a ticket.
The road was a residential one in Lambeth and the contravention was 27. I had parked unwittingly on a speed bump which incorporated a 'dropped footway'. I was not blocking the footway which was at least 4 footwide, although the car was overhanging this bump/drooped footway by about 4 inches.
I have been noticing since then that dropped footways usually have a double yellow line or even a red line indicating that one should not park. I was not even aware that there was this drooped footway. For example one would never park in front of a drive with a dropped footway as it is obvious that you could be causing obstruction
I am planning to appeal but under what grounds could I do so? Can I also ask for photographic evidence while launching my appeal and should I send the same.
I cannot afford to pay this ticket. The parking outside our house is permit holders only and I could not afford to buy the permit. So I park around the corner which I think is safe and I am now in violation of a contravention which was far from clear.
I shall be grateful for any advice.
