Default Redundancy Questions - please help

    Hi

I was told my role has been selected for redundancyicon last week. I put in my proposals on Friday and received an email Monday to say the consultation was closing on Tuesday.

Have my meeting today at some point to find out what their decisions are. I have a few questions I want to get straight first:

    1. I have heard they will be paying 4 weeks notice (but can leave straight away and can start a new job ASAP) - Will this be taxable?
    2. They will also be paying 2 weeks extra as redundancy - take it this should be tax free.
    3. I have bonus outstanding for May and June - will this be paid as normal i.e. pay tax on it?
    4. Is there anything else I should be aware of?
    5. Also, if my role gets made redundant and then they employ me in another role which I have to attend interviews for will i still get my redundancy pay?

    Thanks

    J

I'm no expert, but there are many here.
Can I ask how long you've been in your job, as you may be in line for longer notice, are you a union member.
I can answer question 5, moving to another role job in the organisation (redeployment) means you will not receive any redundancyicon money and you cant refuse unless there are special circumstances e.g. move to another site which is too far away.

Advice is based on my personal opinion, and what I have learnt from this forum.
If you need legal advice please consider consulting a lawyer.

Well I have had my meeting, I am being made redundanticon but cant really complain. I am being paid 4 weeks notice and 2 weeks full pay on top of this. I have been there just under 2 years ( 7 weeks short of the 2yrs).

    No vacancies available either

Keep it in mind though, it is not the employee that is redundent, it is the job. If that were to be given to anyone else, then you would have cause to complain.

On the basis that you have been there less than 2 calendar years then take the money and run. They could throw you out with nothing.

    Good Luck!
