Hi,
Just joined so not sure if I'm doing this right but here goes: We booked to fly to the States with Delta but had to cancel due to a medical problem. The insurance company will refund the base fare only (£176) and Delta will refund all the taxes (£97) but the tickets costs £408 each and they will not refund £137 fuel surcharge. We don't know who to try to get it back from - the insurers or Delta? Is this a non-starter? Seems unfair that you think you're covered with travel insurance but by the time you've lost the policy excess and the fuel surcharge we'll only end up with half the ticket cost back.
