Yesterday we signed into a new 24 mnth orange blackberry contract in an orange store!
We checked coverage prior to signing up and both our Home and Work postcodes showed as having excellent coverage.
However this isnt the case, at home we only have 1 bar of signal, and at work ( Manchester airport ) we have none ( 1 if we get lucky ), this is on the 2g network as its an 8900 which is 2g only.
On top of that the Blackberry Internet Service still isnt active so i have no data service at all to my handset.
Is there anyway we can get orange to cancel this contract for us, i have emailed the exec office but havent been back to the store yet as quite frankly ive convinced myself that its pointless.
We arent high earners, and our phones are very important to what we do so this is a huge problem.
Hi jon, its a difficult one that because allot of networks will just say they are not obliged to return your contract UNLESS there is - 0 - coverage in your area....as you have some signal they probably will not return it, but i would take it further if thats the case speak to ofcom....
Firstly, have you tried it OUTSIDE?, then IN? The coverage shown on the maps is not in building coverage. That said, you need certainly of coverage and if borderline, you've very little time in which to canxel so I suggest you box it back up and return it to the store, stating that the coverage is mediocre at best in the places you will use it most, and ask to arrange a cancellation.
Be prepared to be fobbed off, but be resolute. Provising you are not an upgrading customer (it was a totally new contract) you should be fine.
Outside i get a very slight increase in reception but nothing to shout home about.
I love the phone, and i cant argue with the deal they gave me, but if i cant use it at work then its almost useless to me sadly.
I fear i will be stuck with it
It is a new contract, ive never been a customer before, and still even now my blackberry plan hasnt been activated.....
