Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I stopped work back in 2001 due to ill-health and long term illness. I went on to Incap Benefit as my only form of income. I have remained on this until the current time.
My bank defaulted me on a loan I had at the time and my credit cards went the same way. I have always remained in contact with the creditors and the absolute plethora of debt collection agencies that they have all used to try and coerce me to pay out what I haven't got. However, I haven't paid a penny to any of them since around 2002.
However, I have been advised that despite them knowing my circumstances, they all carried on applying whopping amounts of interest, so that my intial total £16,ooo debt now stand at just under £30,000 !!
I am still unwell and may not be fortunate enough to ever get back to work. However, I am tired of all these dreafuly threatening letters from agencies, etc. I have asked them on numerous occasions to take me to court and petition for my bankruptcy as I just can;t raise the £450 application fee to do it for myself. However, I have read on here that the 'statute barred' rule applies to me ....
Can anyone hekp me with regard what is best to do given my circumstances ?
