Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Just saying hello!! (and letting off steam!)
Site was recommended to me by a mate and now that I have read the FAQs and tried to take in as much as i can - now I am ready to go and get my money !!
Spent years of just accepting the fact that I would be charged whatever the bank stipulated - but no more !!
By charging their unfair and unjustified fees they have over the years put me in some very difficult positions and have been absolutely no help whatsoever.
Already got all of my bank statements so have just had the frightening task of calculating my charges - could not believe it!!
The Woolwich have charged me £1718.50 in charges back to 1999!! about £300 a year for a crap basic bank account (had previous problems pre 1999) with no facilities at all !!
Just completing the prelim letter now but should I take off the 3 x £27.50 charges that incurred in 1999 or just leave them in and chance it ??
Also preparing a prelim letter for the account (with Natwest)that I run for my football club with £454.00 in charges!!
The account is a societies account - would this be any different
Thanx & look forward to keeping you all posted on my progress!!
Welcome to CAG. leave the 1999 charges in your prelim but you'll have to take them out for your claim (I think). I don't think a societies account should be any different - they are still charges and they are still unlawful.
Good luck with your claims,
Karne
x
P.s. sooooo.............what did you win five times ?
Glad you suggested that as I have already posted them off!!
I know i have read it elsewhere as well but I am on hols when my 14 days is up - guess they will get an extra few days from me to respond - probably should have waited but have been that hacked off with the woolwich recently that wanted to hit them with it asap
I paid in a cheque for £5000 from Norwich Union into my account and rang them to ask if they would just cover any Direct Debits (total 3 of a value of £80) due within the 5 days that it takes them to clear a bloody cheque (5 days - as if!! ) they refused and said that I would have to apply for an overdraft.I said that i didnt want an overdraft facility (and they would have probably knocked me back anyway when they did the credit score)
So what happens.... the 3 directs get returned and they charge me £105 !!
Phewwwww!!! - got that one off my chest as well !! (sorry!!)
Anyway - more importantly - your question to me !!!!...... we won it five times ?? just a mad Liverpool FC fan still celebrating winning the Champions League (for the 5th time) last year !!!
