I have a barclaycard account which ive just been told was closed in june but due to a credit report not a default, i phoned them and i missed one payment in 12 months, i am arguing as they closed it i am not contracted to pay interest on it they say i am so i then asked to send it to a DCA as interest would then stop which they refused
any one help
I assume there is at least 1 penalty charge on the a/c which you can reclaim.
Is this interest worth arguing about - I guess it depends on the a/c balance, on which they are charging interest.
Have they written to you confirming closure of the a/c. Are you ok with this or would you prefer to keep the a/c open. If so, they may be open to discussion or negotiation.

hi
no its not any charge im bothered about, the interest is £9.98 per month on an outstanding balance of £480 but ive always paid it around £30 per month if they continue to charge me the interest that will be about £150 before ive settled it yet i didnt default and they wont send it to a DCA so im thinking of sending a letter each month to reclaim the interest as it must be an unfair term and if they wont refund it ill c/court them each month, they increased my limit in march and closed the acc in june
They're not going to refund interest each month re your "unfair term" opinion.
Perhaps a CCA request is your best next move. If/when they fail to produce the credit agreement within 12+2 days, stop paying on the a/c.
They'll hand it over to Mercers or another of their bunch and I think they'll stop adding interest.
The only problem is you'll get a default against your CRA data. It may eventually be possible to get this removed, but it usually takes ages and no end of letters.

A time order isnt really any use as ive not fallen behind in payments they closed it because of a review policy, i have only ever had 3 charges of £12 each on the account which i applied for on monday and got a letter yesterday saying all refunded plus 8% interest!!!!!
