Default Laptop with a known fault - opinions please!?

    Hello folks.

Just under 6 months ago I purchased an Apple Macbook Pro laptop - which I love.

The problem is that one of the internal ports (Firewire800 for those that know) has a known fault which means that it doesn't work very well with certain devices. One such device is my soundcard (I write music) which is an RME Fireface 800.

There is a great deal of discussion online that suggests that Apple have used defective chips which have since been upgraded in a recent update of the Laptops.

I've read that there are work arounds (extra cables and things) but I'm not keen on having to do this all the time.

Do you think I have grounds to reject the laptop under the SOGAicon?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

If you made it clear to the retailer at the time of purchase that you wanted to use it with your sound card and were not advised of any issues then, yes, the laptop is not fit for purpose.

If you did not, then you may be in for a protracted struggle as the laptop would appear to work to spec. as sold,

This is what I'm thinking too.

I might e-mail them and see what they have to say on the matter

    Thanks.
