Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I received a parking ticket for parking my car for three minutes with no ticket in Norway. I don't object to paying the Norwegian local council for the bill but I do object paying Europarking Collection who have bought the "debt" from them. The fine was given in August 2008.
I am now in email contact with Europarking Collection and they still stand by their claim that I must pay £72. They have finally produced photographic evidence along with details of how they got my reg documents from the DVLA. However, rather stupidly, they emailed the copy of my car docs along with the registration documents of another motorist - so I now have in my possession the name, address and registration of a motorist from the North of England.
On these DVLA documents it reads: It is an offence to unlawfully obtain personal data which is contrary to Section 55 of the Data Protection Act.....
I have informed Europarking that unless they drop the case I will inform DVLA that they have illegally handed over information about a third party to me.
Question 1: Will this work?!
Also, I maintain that there is no EU wide agreement on the payment of fines in other member states (and in any case NOrway is not in the EU).
Question 2:
Could they really clamp/seize my vehicle (although I no longer own it!) and/or send round the debt collectors for a trivial parking ticket from abroad?
Just ignore these people, they have nomore power to do anything to you as the Prime minister has over this country.
Cease all communication with these thieves and above all do not pay.
They will threaten you with the world debt, a landslide of mud in yer back yard and other such wonders of the world.
It is all bluff. If they bought your parkin ticket then thats their ard luck.
Never mind saying you will tell the DVLA make a complaint about this company , and let them dance on the end of a rope.
But ignoring them is so boring - 'tis fun to make the brutes work
By letting them write more and more to you, it becomes more likely they will hang themselves with their untruths. However, by you continuing to write to them, then it also true you may divulged something that should have remained unsaid.
If you know what you are doing, go ahead. But if you aren't 100% then stick with ignoring them.

MAYbeing the operative word here MAY NOT is the more likely outcome, just like ignoring PPCs MAY NOT( or in other words WILL NOT) result in them taking you to court (despite all the bluff and bluster they put out to deceive )
Hey amezza! How did this pan out ? I have a similar issue except I paid with all the coins I had (the damn meter wouldn't take my credit card which works everywhere else!) and I got a 715 NOK fine for going 9 minutes over (paid for 58 minutes)... think it is a bit brutal
