Default Home Insurance Claim with Direct Line

    Hi Everyone,

Looking for some advice on an insurance claim issue. Any comments or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm making a claim with direct line for a damaged kitchen. I had a burst pip that caused damage to sections of my kitchen not the whole thing.

Currently DL are only offering to pay for the damaged sections however due to the age and style of the kitchen it is all but impossible to get anythign new to match. Tey don't even make the size of unit wall unit that has been damaged.

I'm had some heated conversation with DL about this but they don't want to budge and keep saying it it standard practise to only replace the damaged sections.

    Can they really do this?

The lounge was also damaged in one corner only stain damage but they are now going to pint the whole lounge including ceiling. IN my view this is repairing nore than the damaged sections. If they do this for the lounge why not do it for the Kitchen.

Is there anywere i can get some advice speak to someone about a possible complaint. From looking at stuff i've found on the internet it seems it more reasonable for companies to offer to pay 50% of the undamaged sections does this seem right.

    Thanks

    Simon
