Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
evening again everyone, just had an offer from RBS - all PPI payments in the last six years, this offer is after only one letter not sure whether to chase them for the interest or just accept also wondered if i can go back further than 6 years as the cc is 9 yrs old? any thoughts?

As this is a first post on rbs ppi can I ask
Is this a loan or credit card?
Do you have the CCA?
Do you know how much PPI you have been paying?
Is the offer acceptable? as it obviously does not include the interest on the PPI and if you refuse their offer presumable a goodwill gesture without any admission of liability and go to the fos you could get that interest and the statutory 8% on top which over 9 years could be a nice sum.
At the end of the day only one person can make the decision

Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
thanks alanalana, firstly its an old credit card thats still active, i cancelled the PPI in 2007, i havent bothered to request a cca becuase i know they havent got one! the additional 3 yrs ppi that they havent offered for would come to £500 so that plus the interest would be what id expect from them should the fos be involved, i suppose its a case of either accepting or hanging on for the fos which i think takes a while, i may just send them a second letter giving them 14 days before i complain to the fos and see what they come up with, i must admit i was expecting more of a fight after reading your thread!! (and yes it was goodwill and no admission of liability - take it youve heard that one before lol )

If they have sent the acceptance forms then your decision. If they have not sent the paperwork for you to sign it could be worth another letter asking for the added £500 with interest and suggest they also offer the 8% statutory on top.
The only reason I say this is so far the RBS have managed to avoid a very large fine from the FSA for mis-selling PPI which they have obviously allegedly done.
In your letter you could also suggest that you thank them for their goodwill but believe that the FOS, FSA, OFT and ICO would be interested to see that they are not treating you fairly.
If they do not up the offer then it is decision time for you to take or complain and wait for the outcome.
I refused The RBS offer of £2.6K went to the ombudsman and then the RBS made an offer of £3.8K on one complaint in total I recovered £10k+
your choice though
