    Unhappy Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi 4 weeks ago I was a single mum self employed in recipt of working tax credits, ( I was self employed through completing my degree at uni, it made things easier for me being self employed). The wash loads worked out at five wash loads and I charged £ 20.00 per bag.

I have just been through a tax credits enquiry, were the out-come is that they are dening that five wash loads work out to 16 hours of work. I was washing, drying and ironing five wash loads, they have taken the working tax element of my tax awards from me and are asking for two years worth of back pay. I wont even start to tell you the finianial aspects of what they have done. I gave them all the info, plus, within a week. I have relayed information over the phone when asked. I thought that I had nothing to hide and went along with there enquiry assiting as I could.
My complicance officer firslty rang me and accused my husband of living at my address even though I provided them with 18 pieces of evidence of his new address, driving license/ letters/bills,ect. He suggested that if he came to my home and asked my neighbours if my husband was living me that they would say yes he was. He kept saying come on Mrs...just admit it we'll be easier on you. Finally he accepted that my husband wasn't living with me as I kept telling him he wasn't. Then came the bomb shell that as faras he was concerned I wasn't working the full 16 hours. Five wash loads does not consitute 16 hours as far as he was concerned.

I rang the complaiance officer today and asked him what model/ guidelines he used to came to his conclustion and he informed me that he didn't need one, he worked on pure fact.

I wrote down my hours how I washed for and allocated times..

I feel that I have just been in a school play ground got beat up and lost all my dinner money..

    Any advise pleaseeeeeeee

You could tell them the wash cycle of your machine. I know the MINIMUM on ours is one hour twenty minutes, times that by five = 6 hours 40 min then you have to dry and iron.Plus there is loading & unloading machine plus sorting.
So ask him again where his pure facts are coming from . Perhaps he just washes his socks!!

Just a little up-date...........I recieved all written info i asked for, but still waiting for the cd with all recorded phone callsicon,,I suspect that it will be a very long time that one..I have quoted to them the Health & Safety Act, as a home worker I am under obligation to it and risk assements..they claim that I am not working while the washing/dryer are in operation seems to contrive my risk assesments. I had a child with specail needs under the age of ten.
I wrote back to them over a month ago and although recieved an acknowledgement am still awaiting a reply.
