    Default Alliance & Leicester Ppi

    Hi There

I originally rc'd a letter from A&L saying "you may have been mis-sold your PPIicon insurance" etc. I replied using a template letter that a friend of mine used - stating the reason why I thought the ppi had been mis-sold to me (I already had insurance through my employer which they did not ask about, the girl implied that I would get the loan if I took their insurance etc - the list goes on!)
The first response I got was on the 8/4/9 - only a few days after I posted my letter, it stated " Thank you for contacting us and highlighting your concerns - we are looking into the issues you have raised and will let you have our response as soon as possible".
Waited 8 weeks with no further correspondence- then called the number on the letter on 2/6/9- a guy took the reference number and replied "oh yeah I see your claim here - nothing's really been done with it - I will flag it for high priority".
Then a letter arrives today 8/6/9 - but is dated 29/5/9 - they are obviously backdating their letters as; a) I spoke to them on 2/6 and was told nothing had been done, b) it does not take ten days for a letter to arrive in the post, c) they have cleverly worked the date on this new letter to be compliant with the 8 weeks response time. This letter states ""Unfortunately we are not yet in a position to provide you with an outcome - we are continuing to investigate you case and will write to you with an outcome shortly" (continuing - yeah right - they didn't do anything after the first letter - I think they may just wait to see if you chase them - or forget about it!) Their letter also includes a leaflet on complaining to the Ombudsmanicon.

So after my big long winded explanation - should I wait for them to get back to me - or start writing to the ombudsman?

Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks to aa for the advice on starting my own thread (never used a forum site before)

If you have your a copy of your original Consumer Credit Agreement and the terms and conditionsicon. You could consider going straight to the fosicon.

At least for a start you could give them a call and seek advice. Links to the FOS here...

Also see this if the dates of your loan match up with the article below you should use the information when you remind A&L that you are due a refund.
