Can any1 help I have a Capital 1 credit card with a debt of £9500 I have been in touch with Cartel who advised me that they can claim back at least £5000 of this debt for me. I believe I may be able to do this myself and would appreciate any advice or help as to how I go about this.
This is not the only debt we have, there are three loans and two more credit cards. Been in touch with CCCS but they just sent us a template of a letter to send to our creditors offering token payment, which is what we are doing at moment. To be honest don't no which way to turn and none of the banks want to help everyone just wants money, which we have'nt got due to the current climate.
The phone rings all the time with people asking for payments and Capital 1 are the worst they ring at least 3 times a week each time we tell them the same story. If anyone has any help, advice or ideas I would be so grateful feel like there is nowhere to turn at the moment.
Don't worry, your right, you can do everything yourself with the help of people on this site, we've all been in the same boat you are
Best thing to do is start a new thread for each of your debts in the appropriate Forums, this makes it easier for people to see things as they happen and advise you accordingly.
If you are currently paying through CCCS and they have advised you to send your creditors a token payment, I would suggest that this is the best way to go. Unfortunately, if you are in an informal arrangement, the creditors can still contact you. However, you will have someone dealing with your case, acting on your behalf in CCCS, so I would suggest to contact them and ask them to get in touch with your creditors to reduce the calls.
Have you looked into any other option such as the IVA or bankruptcy?? In the IVA, all interest and charges would be frozen and you would no longer be chased by your creditors.
