Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I was hoping someone maybe able to give me some advice. I bought my car with CF in April 2007. I was not made clear of the 72%APR that was put on my loan. I was also told that when I signed my contact I had payment protection, I tried to apply for this when I lost my job, only to be told that the only cover I have “if you die your finance is cleared” by one of the many unhelpful administrators!!
At Christmas 08 I asked if I could lower my payments as £240 a month was a lot to pay out. Colin Long told me that even with an income and expenditure form this would not help the only way they could help me would be to add the payment on to the end of my loan term L.
In total the car finance I required was £3,500 and I have to pay back £10,653!!! It makes me so mad that they can rip people off like this!
I have been to the CAB and have made a formal complaint to the Credit Consumer Line – has anyone else tried this route? Can you please advice of next steps, or what has happen in your situation with AF?
