Lloyds have froze my account! Please help anyone...
Good Afternoon all,
I have had a Lloyds account for years. Its my only account, I have a loan with them also totalling around £11000 and an overdraft, I am £1300+ in arrears on the loan, but have an arrangement to pay £50 per month for 6 months, plus a chunk off when I get an Insurance claim I am waiting on, I have a £1270 overdraft which was arranged to cover all of THERE charges to the current account! I have an agreement to clear £20 off this per month, until my situation improves. This was given to me for 6 months also.
I have written proof of both of these.
The arrears are due to be paid using an insurance cheque I was waiting for, it arrived last Friday and was paid straight in to Lloyds account the same day, for £6500. Great news for me you would think.
The cheque will clear over night tonight, however, I have just tried to set up a new payment recipient on my account and it won't let me, I phoned them, the account has been froze! Then they said and I quote 'Lloyds no longer wish to provide you with a banking service' a young girl was told to tell me this by her superior, (after being put on hold for 20mins!) she had no clue of how to tell me this! I asked to be transferred to a Manager, they simply said no, go to the branch! So I am about to. I did however manage to get transferred to the collections department, where they advised my Account was fine! just pay the arrears off. But to get any further monies out, I'd need to visit a branch!
I am worried that they will gobble up the whole cheque amount, leaving me nothing to pay my other lenders, such as my mortgage company.
I have called the insurance company and asked them to put a stop on the Cheque, so I am waiting to hear back from them, can this be stopped today???
If anyone at all can help me, or advise me, I would be really appreciative.
Hopefully I've posted this thread in the correct place, apologies if not.

Hi CO,
I don't know if you will get the insurers to stop the cheque, but I doubt they will. If they do, open a new bank a/c elsewhere with the re-issued cheque.
If it is left with Lloyds, I fear they will take the money towards your debts with them and NOT give you access to continue normal banking with them.
You need to remind them that you agreed with them to make reduced payments until this pay't came through, and you've kept your end of the bargain and paid in the ins'ce cheque in good faith.
They may then agree to allow you to resume normal banking facilities with them.
Bear in mind how they've behaved and perhaps look to set up banking facilities elsewhere.
