I have managed to give up smoking ,i am not wearing a smug smile as yet as i have only been smoke free for 5 weeks...........
Stated on Zyban and the first 4 or 5 days were ok,only when i got into the two a day did it really kick in..............Please believe me i am not exasgerating my symptoms................I was so angry, short tempered, even felt violent......I am in fact a quiet placid woman !!!!
the feelings these pills envoked in me were dreadful.I didnt feel connected at all to reality and felt i would be better off dead!!! i was even angry with my grand daughter who i adore and would never raise my voice to her,but i did!!!!!!!! i couldnt even have a cigerette because and this the only good thing....I just didnt want one,the thought made me fill sick.........
My entire family suffered while i was taking the zyban and it happened so frightening fast..........Decided i had to stop taking them and did............
BUt i still havnt had a cigerette...........Thats 3 weeks without zyban.5 weeks without cigerettes
Zyban has
horrible nasty chemicals that stop you smoking but the severe depression and violent outbrusts were too much for me..................I wonder what if i wasnt a strong person and recognised what effects these pills were having on me......What if i had some undiagnosed mental health issues........... There have been many suicides related to zyban..........And to think this drug was actually for depression !!! Thank god i didnt have to take them for long................... tilly
well congratulations on your efforts you have done well im only 3 days into stopping smoking yes it is hard i have the patches .the problem with perscribed medication the best advice is from people like you who have taken the medication and know the side effects thanks for the input..
Just letting everyone know i am now on week 7.......... It is very strange i feel like i have always been a non smoker???
I have tried to give up before but i missed smoking!!.Not this time....I dont miss it at all............ Best of luck to everyone..........Believe me if i can do this so can you............. x
I tried Zyban years ago but it disrupted my sleep patterns so badly I was exhausted. I'd go to bed about 11, then wake up at 2 a.m. wide awake and not get back to sleep. Had to stop taking it as couldn't function at work! Didn't stop me smoking anyway.
Im starting on xyban on the 17th of March.
Ive read lots of stuff on the net and it all manily concludes with the fact that this stuff can give you mood-lifts, even euphoria.
Yet there are many reports of induced depression occasionally leading to attempted suicide.
So I asked the doctor about this - I dont know if he couldnt answer or didnt want to!!
Either way,Im deeply suspicious of this stuff now.
