Will my partner automatically be financially associated with me if we get married
I currently live with my partner and we have no joint debts or bank accounts and have never applied for credit together
I have a poor credit file due to debts I ran up as a student that Im currently in the process of sorting out.
We are now talking about getting married but I dont want to ruin his good credit by being financially associated with me.
If we were married, assuming we didnt actually apply for any joint debt, would he automatically be associated with me and if so could I use the forms I used to disassociate myself from my parents when I lived with them to prevent their credit being tainted by mine.
Re: Will my partner automatically be financially associated with me if we get married
I think it would only assosiate with each others if you were to apply for a joint account or loan etc.

I do believe that if you both are living at the same address on the voters role then there will be an association or link added to both your CRA files. This happened to me and my ex girlfriend even though we didn't have any joint debts. I'm unsure if this has an impact on your credit worthiness though.

A joint financial connection should only occur if you both sign up for a joint financial product e.g. a bank account.

Thanks for all your replies. the only thing with both of our names is council tax. Everthing else is either in one name or the other, including utilities
