Default Advice relating to Argos Storecard Dispute

    Hello

I have a dispute relating to an Argos storecard account which is in default through no fault of my own and am getting absolutely nowhere with their customer services. I was hoping to get advice from anyone who has had any dealings with them in relation to getting a Default removed from their file? Brief details on my dispute with them are below:
    • I rang up Argos mid February to pay off the balance of my Argos card. I was told this had been settled in full. I had recently moved and during this call changed my address with them. I did not plan to use the card again at any point.
    • Mid April I happened to be back at my old residence and found a statement from Argos. This letter was chasing me for payments and informing me that I had missed payments and threatening me with action. This was surprising because not only did I consider that I had paid off all the money I owed to Argos but also that they were sending this information to my old address.
    • I contacted customer services who told me the money I owed was due to late payment charges and interesticon charges and could not understand why my address had only just been changed on their system when I had rang up to request this in February. They promised to look into this and said I would be called back.
    • I did not receive a call back from Argos but did get another letter demanding payment for the charges that I still consider I do not owe them, this letter told me my account was now in default and because I was worried about the impact this could have on my credit rating immediately rang up to make the minimum payment.
    • I have since made another call to Argos who have no record of this already being looked at and are again promising to look into it. I do not have any faith in the fact that this will be looked into and having just been declined for a mortgageicon (I have a perfect credit rating apart from this and never previously been refused any credit) I need to find some way of getting this resolved and the default removed.

If anyone does have any advice on dealing with disputes with Argos Storecards I would be very greatful to hear it, in particular if there is any other number apart from customer services or any particular person to speak to this would be very helpful.
I somehow need to get the Default removed from my credit file and any advice on how to go about this would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

I don't think Argos are different from anyone else. Firstly, you need to get all your statements - if you haven't got them, send an SARicon. Specifically ask them for all records relating to your account - screen shots, details of letters and phone callsicon.

Once you have all the information, start a claim for the charges and interesticon on charges and for default removal - prelim letter, lbaicon, court as for any other claim. default removal is never easy, but is a ;ot easier if it is linked to a charges refund case. You seem to have agood case in that respect.
