Euro Car Parks - Penalty charge for parking in two spaces on free car park
Hello
It's my first post here; please be gentle with me
Last Friday I parked on Lidls (free to use) car park, and have to admit, I never knew that there was parking enforcement there.
Hands up, I did park my car awkwardly and my driver side wheels were over the white line which divided 'my bay' and the one next to me.
I got out of the car and spotted what looked like a car park warden - She wasn't in the car park, but was on the pavement by the main road. Anyway, she was looking straight at me and didn't stop looking until I walked past her. (I nipped across the road to post a letter and dashed back into the store)
After doing my shopping I came back to the car and she had slapped a ticket on it which states 'Taking up two car spaces'
I walked around until I found her, and I knew it was pointless getting annoyed, so I asked her where the signs were which stated ticket issuing offences.
She said "There aren't any like that, there are just the ones that state you can't park over 2 hours" I found 3 small Lidl notices which purely state that you may have to pay a penalty if you park for more than two hours)
I then asked her why she watched me commit the 'offence' and let me walk past her without saying a word - she didn't have anything to say but smiled, and wished me a lot of luck with any appeal I might make, as Euro Parks 'fight hard'
I've read other threads on here which are about tickets issued for late returns to cars, and I wondered if my 'offence' also doesn't warrant a ticket from this company.
I haven't got the money to pay this at the moment (was made redundant 30th April) BUT I would rather pay the £30.00 they request rather than get into more bother and have to pay more later on
Please help - This kind of thing will weigh heavy on me until it's sorted out one way or the other, and I don't know what to do.

Search here on Lidl and ECP. And stop worrying. the woman int he car park was trying to get you to engage with the PPC when the thing to do is nothing at all. Its a [problem], do not call them, do not write to them, keep your [problem]voice (aka jokevoice) safe in a drawer. when you get [problem]letters (and you will) just put them in the drawer with the jokevoice. Your money is safe. The guy running ECP (and his partner) is looking to but a new yacht off the backs of the victims that fall for this [problem]. Don't be one of them, there is no need. If you want some comfort coverage go back and take digital pictures of the signs. okay ?

Congratulations.
You've spotted the first of their frauds. Paperwork which mimics that of the police. This is the reason that the likes of these jokers don't go to court.
With regard o your credit rating, they cannot affect it without going to an awful lot of bother which only starts with taking you to court and winning. Even then, there is a lot of other things they have to do, so don't worry.
As for them fighting hard, they will only fight hard if they think they have someone they can intimidate. Like any bully, the best way to frustrate them is to not engage in their mind games.
Lamma's advice is sound, and provne to be effective. Just ignore them at ever stage and they will slink away with their tails between their legs looking for another victim.
MBNA - Agreed to refund £970 in full without conditions. Cheque received Sat 5th Aug.
Lloyds - Settled for an undisclosed sum.

Hi there. Ignore them- i have had quite a few dealings with ECP. What will happen is that they will send you two letters-the initial one will state that they got your details from the DVLA and as the RK you are responsible for paying up-thats wrong and just part of the [problem]. The second will threaten to pass on to a DCA and increase the invoice amount. They will then pass it on to ethier Brinx or Control Account who will send you up to 3 letters threatening all sorts of nonsense. After that they disappear

Tara - think this through carefully. Were they to take you to court, what do you think the reaction of the judge would be when he saw that ECP want £50 because you parked on a white line in a free car park, with no signs saying what the consequences would be if you did.
