I have a similar situation with Esporta. I signed for a 1 year contract which came to an end Feb 2009 in Warwickshire Esporta. The same month I gave them a notice to terminate my membership as I was supposed to be flynig away for a business trip for few months. Before leaving I had cancelled my direct debit as it made no sense for me to keep paying for something I was not going to use bearing in mind taht my contract with Esporta was over.
I arrived recently and found all these threat letters from ARC and Trevor Munn of threatening to take me to Northampton county court and that my nformation will be passed to the credit reference agencies who will hold the information for 6 years.
I don't know what would be the best option for me to take at this stage. On moral grounds, I believe this is a complete rip-off to ask someone to give 3 months notice. After the contract of 12 months, just 1 month notice should be sufficient.
Any help or dvice would be greatly appreciated.
Has anyone ever been taken to Northampton Court by trevor Munn?
I've started you a new thread for your case to save hijacking.
When you gave them notice, did you do so in writing.
Have you checked the contract to see what notice they required and how it has to be given. You say 3 months' notice is morally wrong and a rip-off but you need to see if you signed agreeing to this.

Yes I emailed Esporta a letter stating that I wish to terminate my membership upon expiration of the 12 month contract.
However, I did not receive ay reply from Esporta stating that this has been granted.
I was told by the salesman at Esporta that a 3 months notice will be required if unsusbcribing within a year and one months notice is required if unsuscribing after the one year contractual period has ended.
The contract is a bit vague and states that 3 months notice is required, irrespective of the contractual period.
