    Default Furniture problem

My parents have been in talks with a large furniture store for about 12 months about the poor quality of the furniture they bought. Finally last week the company agreed for my parents to go back to their store of purchase and choose another suite to the value of the first. Great!! My question is, being as the company have admitted there must be a problem, can my parents ask for their money back so they can go elsewhere? The furniture is now 15 months old but my parents first complaint was 12 months ago when it was 3 months old. Thank you

It depends upon the nature of the problem.
In principle they could ask for a refund but I expect that you will be opening up another level of conflict and additional delay.
Why on earth did they wait so long before taking some more assertive action

Thanks for the response bankfodder, they started the ball rolling after 3 months after a further 3 they went to Trading Standards, I believe they actually slowed the process down. But from a law? perspective do you reckon they could ask for a refund?

Under the sale of goods act retailers have the right to repair or replace before offering refund. however dig in over time taken, stress etc and they should play ball. Don't forget that they are interested in profit so they have made money on the first suite so can effectively swollow the margin on the replacement and not really loose money. My website gives details of buyers rights.
