halifax want to charge me 4 bank charge statements!
I saw the programme on ITV and started off writing to Halifax asking for all my bank charges from the last 5 years and I got a letter back saying that they are going to charge me £5. p statement of bank charges are they allowed to do this?

Hi Peachy,
Welcome to the forums. They can charge you 5.00 for statements, although what you need to do is make a SAR. There is a statutory maximum fee of 10.00. See the letters in the bank templates library. Have a good read through the FAQs and step by step instructions (also in the library) and you should find things become a little clearer.

thanku i just don't no what to do, i no i'm supposed to get my bank charge letters from Halifax, add them up and then ask them 4 this amount? - is that right? and then i don't no what to to do, its just so nice to find a site like this where there are people who genuinely want to help

I know how you feel ... most of us have been there too!
There's plenty of help out there when you need it, you just have to ask ... but don't forget that you also need to put a good bit of time going through other's examples and postings to get a good idea of what goes on ... then you'll feel more confident about your own case.

thaks for that, i just read the FAQ in red, and rang Halifax asking for the data comissioners address for the SAR and funnily enough he said he didnt have it put me on hold for 10 mins and then came back saying that still he didnt have it so with the FAQ in front of me i started spouting off all the stuff in there and then he said do you have a pen and gave me the info, seriously !!! i feel great and can't stop smiling, i felt so empowered thanku!!!
