Default HELP: Me V Student Loan Comp

Hello to everybody, this is my first post, & I'm not sure if there's anyone here who has had a similar problem to me.

I'm on the case with the Halifaxicon ("Always giving NOT you extra....?), , so I'll let you know how that goes on.

My problem is with the Student Loan Company.
On Friday 28th a direct debiticon was taken from my "Always giving you extra" account. I phoned my bank & they said it was debited by the Student loan co, they suggested I phone them. Having spoke to one of their people, the SLC guy said that they had recieved a deferrment application, but late into their department & therefore took payment of the loan. I had sent the application by recorded delivery.
I feel like I've been mugged.

    1. Are the Student loan company's charges, relevant to unfair charges also ?
    2. Will the Direct Debit guarantee apply to this transaction?

I'd be grateful of any advice or suggestions.

Many thanks...."Always giving them extra", but not for much longer !!!

    Hi Paul,

SLC's charges are unlawful and can be claimed back in the same way as the bank's charges.

I'm not sure about the direct debiticon guarantee. You might want to post a thread in the 'general' forum. This is more of a welcome forum.... so Paul welcome to the forum!

Best of luck with sorting this

FYI I don't give the student loans company my bank details. I make a point of telling them that they can't have it and can't be trusted to have it due to failing to do what they're told with them. It's currently in deferment though. I've also had the bank cancel everything and anything going to them. Just can't trust them not to take money when they're not due it.
