Thread: DCA now phoning re private parking charge

Has anyone else had a DCA chasing one of these private parking [problem]s by phone? My son was issued an invoice by a PPC and on my advice (gleaned from here of course) duly ignored the evermore threatening missives. There has been one letter from a DCA and then the phone calls started. Unfortunately the car is registered at my elderly father's address and they are haranguing him. What do we do now?

get them blocked by BT/the carrier. report to the police for harassment, make sure you emphasise the victim is 'vulnerable' and get a crime number. which low life DCA is it ?

I don't know yet - my son has let my husband know this evening as he's worried now about his grandfather. I didn't get in 'til son had been and gone so I will find out tomorrow. As far as I know my son has already committed the cardinal sin of ringing the DCA and blasting them. We did expect a couple of letters to the address but not the phone calls. My father doesn't even have the same surname as my son but they've been phoning him all week. I can only hope it's a sign of how desperate they are to get money in.

probably not a real DCA, if they are you should get them into even more hot water.

I still don't have the details but a letter arrived at my father's house today so he phoned my son and opened it with his permission. Apparently it says the matter is now closed.

I can imagine my son really did blast them when he phoned them. He had no knowledge but said he reckoned they must be breaking a number of rules and maybe even breaking the law. Obviously it was enough to frighten them off. Maybe it is worth a phone call if you're not the sort to be intimidated - I shouldn't think he let them get a word in

The parking sharks are a company calling themselves UK Parking Patrol. The parking charge ticket was issued in a Cambrigeshire market town. The letters from them all start

Creditor - UK Parking Patrol, Debtor - my son.

The DCA were CCS. The letter saying the matter is closed is from CCS. It goes on to say he must now deal direct and states 'reason for closure - refusal to pay'.

The DCA may be saying their file may be closed because they have been informed the ticket is in dispute. By law, once they are informed of this they have to return the debt to the principle, in this case UKPP (although most DCAs rarely do). Don't be surprised if further letters start arriving from UKPP again.

That's what we expect. The DCA gave up a bit quick. I do think it's a bit rich UKPP referring to themselves as a creditor when there's no debt.
