Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hello again, I did say I post this subject as a seperate thread when I had time, so here it is, as I realise it may well be of interest to others who did not read my other post.
Basically, we sent off CCA requests & heard nothing on that subject for a good 2 months, then last saturday, we recieved a short letter acknowledging requests but we had not signed the letter, bla, bla, bla.
Our letter was on top of a thick bundle of A4 sheets (which until I read our letter, I presumed were the CCA's we had requested). But on reading them, they were the CCA for a loan for a completely different customer No connection to us whatsoever: different name, different area of the country. I'm really shocked & disgusted - this could happen to any of us & as you are reading a post on Egg's help forum, I could actually now be in possession of a CCA belonging to one of you.
So my question now is what's the best thing to do? Should I contact this person & tell them what has happened? I don't feel 100% happy to just return it to Egg, as then it will just get covered up & I don't think they should get away with that - or am I over reacting? Any thoughts or advice would be great. I'd also love to know if this has happened to anyone else?
Regards,
Michelle.
You could send it to them, give them the address of this site (they may not be a member yet - not all Egg customers are, unfortunately) and tell them they ought to make a claim against Egg under the DPA 1998.
You should complain to Egg as well

Thanks for your advice Steven. I'll get onto that & I will tell the other party about this great site, especially as it I have now noticed that they are currently using a claims company (which I have looked up & it seems they charge a large up front fee for their services.)

Michelle.
Hi
I received a response to my CCA request and received EIGHT other peoples, as well as mine.
I informed (and enclosed copies) to the ICO. They are now looking into it.
I forwarded thae copies to the proper owners and included a covering letter and told them to also inform the ICO.
I then informed lowells(representing Capital One). They responded by saying they have now closed the account (WAHOO), but I will be responding soon to make sure if there is a default against the account that this will be removed and to make sure there is nothing against my credit report. I may not request payment for letters , envelopes, stamps, ink, my time etc, for me doing the public spirited thing, it was a pleasure.
Good luck to you

Sorry emmar & gill5blue, I've been away again for treatment (long story) so i've only just seen your input on this thread. Thanks for responding, it's always good to hear other stories. Hope your CCA's turned up by now emmar? Mine hasn't - what a fab company they are. 8?? different CCA's gill5blue - I thought I had problems. What a bunch of no hopers. Just been looking at your list of successes, well done you! I'm having major problems with HSBC now, have posted as couldn't find info I needed, but no replies. Feel a bit invisible, everyone's great but so busy & I don't like to bug people. Anyway, thanks again both of you for your input & best wishes to you - keep up the good work!
Start a new thread in the HSBC forum - you should get specific help then
