Urgent help please, letter threat for home visit within 72hrs!!!
Hello, could somebody please, please be kind enough to give me some urgent advice? We sent CCA requests (Egg Card & Egg Money) a good 2 months ago (don't have dates on me right now) & heard nothing until 3 letters arrived on saturday just gone. 1 is from egg, asking us to phone them, the 2nd is from a Capital Collection Agencies telling us to ring or it will be referred to a specialist contact co within 72 hours, who will come to our home! Surely they can't do this, especially as there is a dispute? They did not mention our CCA requests & I have not been able to send 2nd letters yet as i've been in hospital. Finally, the 3rd letter does acknowledge the CCA requests but asks us to re apply with a signiture or to supply a utility bill as proof of identity (I noticed someone else had a similar response to this one.) Could somebody please give me an idea of what I can do? I'm still really ill & the stress of this is really taking a toll on me.
I should also mention another very important fact, which I will try to post as a seperate thread later, this being that although our correspondence from Egg (the 3rd letter) was only a single sheet of A4, it came in a huge thick A4 size envelope bundle & on looking at the many pages behind our letter was someone elses CCA!!!!:-? Not even in the same county, not a similar name, just absolutely NOTHING to do with us & yet it has many personal details regarding this other person's loan. What on earth should I do now? & how many others could this have happened to?? Outrageous!
I would really appreciate your thoughts & help with all or any of the above as i'm worried sick. Please help:cry: Thank you very much.

Ditto what dx said I've had many doorstep visit threats but nobody as turned up, if they do tell them to go away and communicate in writing only, they are powerless.
Regarding the cca of someone else report it to the information commissioners office as a breach of data protection.
But the main thing calm down, deal with these people methodically when things arise and you will be fine.

Thanks so much to both of you, sorry if I came across as hysterical. I guess everything seems that bit worse when you feel rough. Letters I can handle but the thought of someone at the door really put the wind up me, so to speak! Out of interest, does anyone know what's the best thing to say if someone did knock on your door? - besides what i'd like to say It would be good to at least pretend I know what i'm talking about.
They are approx 10 & 8 yr old accounts so I really hope to be able to get rid of them for good if they ever get round to sending what we've asked for - or maybe some other customer has it - anything's possible obviously. They must be pretty busy to make a mistake like that so I hope that's a good sign. I'm wondering if I ought to contact the other customer?
Anyway, i'll get on with my letters now. Thanks again for your good advice. You are great & it makes a huge difference to have this fab site to turn to. I will def be donating soon as I can.

are you indicating this is statute barred then?
if its been more than 6yrs since any financial transaction eitherway, then what you have is a phishing letter.
ignore it.

Hello again, no sorry if I wasn't clear on the timing issue - I just meant that any CCA's they may have are at least that old. We have been paying dutifully up until a couple of months ago, when for personal reasons that I won't bore you with here, we just couldn't carry on. So in order to keep paying the mortgage, something had to give.... you get the picture & as I have absolutely no hope of being able to work (through serious ill health) i'm just doing what I can to protect my family - believe me, I would much rather have my health back & be working but sadly we don't always have the choice. Thanks again for your advice - I really don't know what i'd do without you guys.
