Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I got a parking ticket by NCP back in Febuary, I was about 8 mins late and they said the charge would be £100 unless I paid within 14 days it would be half the cost.
My friend agreed to pay the fine as it was her fault that we were late back to the car. She wrote a cheque for the £50 and I posted it a week later so I know it would have got there in plenty of time. It would have taken no more than 2 or 3 days to reach them .
I had heard nothing since and assumed everything was fine, but I am so angry because today I have had a notice from NCP saying that they want another £100 from me!!! They acknowleged that they recieved the £50 I sent them.
I don't understand why they have done this?
I have tried to contact my friend who is on holiday for 2 weeks to see if she can access her bank statement to see when NCP cashed the cheque but I cant get hold of her.
I would really appreciate some advice on what I should do because it is just so unfair.
Thanks
Cancel the cheque immediately and do not enter into any further correspondence. They may well cash it and still demand more regardless and then probably argue that the cheque didnt get to them on time. Its all part of the [problem]. Cancel asap as getting money back off PPCs is near impossible!

Private companies have no powers to issue fines. You've been silly enough to fall for the [problem], so they're trying to get another £100 from you because you're such a soft target and paid their first unenforceable invoice.
