Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am currently in the middle of claiming back all my bank charges from Alliance & Leicester since September 2005, totalling £284 at present, with another £25 due to be taken from my account on 1/8/2006.
Here is how things have gone so far...
8/6/2006 - Sent off preliminary request for repayment
19/6/2006 - Received 'we will get back to you soon' letter
27/6/2006 - Received letter refusing refund
11/7/2006 - Sent off letter before action
20/7/2006 - Received 'we will get back to you soon' letter
26/7/2006 - Received letter offering partial refund of £100 and eight weeks to take the case further
I'm not going to settle for a partial refund but having just checked my account online, they've only refunded me £75! I also have an unauthorised overdraft charge due to be taken from the account on 1/8/2006 - will I be able to add that to my list of charges I'm claiming for? In the latest letter it stated that 'any further charges raised correctly in future will stand'. However, as I was aware of the latest charge before I received this letter, can I still claim for it?
So, the total sum left owing to me now is £209; £234 if the charge due on 1/8/2006 can be claimed for.
