I bought a car 10 weeks ago from a indie dealer, after 5 weeks of ownership the turbo started to fail, i reported this to the garage i bought it from, they said they couldnt fit me in for a number of weeks as they were really busy, they then gave me the details of another garage that does warrenty work for them...the guy at the other garage diagnosed the fault and booked me in to get the turbo replaced, only downside was i had a 4 week wait (was okay with this as i only work around the corner)...anyway, turbo sorted this week, picked the car up today and had to pay £97 for oil, oil filter and a warrwnty excess as the car has over 80k miles.....my question is, as the car failed within such a short time after purchase, could i ask the garage i bought the car from to reimburse me the cost of the oil and oil filter, the warrenty excess was £30, but accept this, its the other bits i want the cost back for...any advice on this one?
Yes I would query why you had to pay anything, nothing to do with warranty, dealer must put faults right, especially after such a short period, and he should of known that turbos dont normally last more than 80k anyway.
