    Default Disabled Parking

I'll apologise before I start, as I am new to these forums and have only registered to post this question. I've done a quick search and and think I've just about got the the right answer but would prefer to make sure.

My wife is disabled and parked in a disabled bay at a private car park at a shopping centre. As she has only recently become disabled she is still awaiting details of her entitlement and therefore cannot yet apply for a blue badge.

She paid for the parking ticket and displayed it but doesn't of course doesn't yet have a blue badge.

The attendant watched her, her carer and my 1 year old daughter leave the car and then walked over and put the pcnicon on the windscreen.

    So my questions are:

    1. Without a council parking place order is "fine" for the disabled place enforceable?

    2. If there is no parking place order, do I just ignore anything they send to us until they give up?

The company is Excel Parking Ltd.

Thanks in advance for any help.

No. (Well they are not really enforceable anyway, disabled bay or not)

    2. If there is no parking place order, do I just ignore anything they send to us until they give up?

Yes. You'll get about 5 or 6 letters from various (threatening) people, just ignore them all.

The company is Excel Parking Ltd.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Disabled bays on private land are mere graffiti.

Of course, it's inconsiderate to abuse the, but your 'pcnicon' us the usual unenforceable tosh.

    • do not pay
    • do not contact them
    • ignore them
    • they will go away

Thanks for the replies above, but have another problem now.

My wife used the same car park again today, but this time forgot to buy a ticket, so again she got another pcnicon.

Should I pay the £40 for this one, or just stand firm and ignore anything I get from them for both?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Ignore them both.

Chances of court are miniscule. The PR fallout from trying it on with a disabled person means there's even less chance.
