Default I just want to scream

    Hi,

I just really need some support at the moment as I dont feel i can take any more.
We are in so much hardship at the moment (made worse by the social taking back £40pw for a loan that we took out 18 months ago). We need to move house but cant afford it as we can just about eat at the moment. My kids cant go to birthday parties as we cant afford to buy presents for the children.

I am due to take my girls 7&5 to haven for 5 days in a few weeks and at the moment it is looking like we aren't going to be able to go as we cant afford it. The holidayicon is booked and paid for but we are going to need money for food and to do stuff with them. We have never had a holiday together and they are really excited about going. I have just applied to a few charities to see if they could give me a small grant to cover the costs of the holiday but so far have had no luck.

I just feel such a failure. My kids cant even go on day trips as we cant even afford that. I know that it is quality time that they need and kids are happy with that but their friends at school are starting to ask them questions and I feel so ashamed.

It is my eldests birthday when we go away and the holiday was her main birthday present. Short of a miricale happening I really dont know what to do.

Sorry for the rant I just needed to talk to someone who understands and who wont judge me.

It is so frustrating that we can't do much more than appreciate what you have posted here and simply say that there are many many thousands of people in the same boat as you and that there is nothing to be ashamed of.

The one piece of advice I can give you is that for goodness sake, don't try any loan sharks - payday loansicon or other short term solutions.

It may help you with the holidayicon expenses you need - but you will never recover from it and the situation for you and the kids will get dramtaically worse.

If you are owed any money in bank charges etc, then we can help you - and in fact you have been with us long enough that you probably know that.

Don't be shy of posting on here. We have over 218,000 registered Caggers and that means that you have 218,000 friends who understand your situation completely.

Please don't pm me about specific questions unless you have posted and it has not been dealt with or unless the matter is confidential.
Please include a link to the post you want me to look at. If you have received a defence, contact me.

I agree with Bankfodders post above, please don't go down the payday loanicon companies route as it will take a LONG time to get rid of the loan.

Have you spoken to other family members or not? Sometimes help can come from that direction but not always...

Are you in rented or council accommodation because you can ask them for the list of people who want to exchange properties, my sister did this a while ago and got a larger flat as somebody had their children grow up and move and were left with four bedrooms, she swapped her ground floor two bedroom flat with them.

Other people will be along soon with more ideas and suggestions.

    Hi,

Thank you for your replies. I have already been down the road of the door step loans before I knew about this site and it was the worst thing I ever did!!.

I think it is just the fact that even the simplest of things seems so hard to do. Realistically i'm looking at needing to take about £150 to cover the cost of food and things to do with the kids. When your in the situation that we are in that amount is almost impossible to save up for. I got my benefits in today and before I have even got to the supermarkets I have £50 left to last me the week.

I only have my mum and financially she is in the same boat as me due to recovering from a major op and being unable to work or claim due to her age. I have tried everything I know of and have had no luck.

As far as the housing side of things go, we need to move for many reasons but despite these reasons we have had no luck in finding help as we are in private rented. We have been intouch with our MP and he has come round to see how bad it is and agrees that we need to move for our health and saftey. On monday i'm re applying for a community care grant with the backing of him so hopefully it will be awarded for rent/deposit.

We have claimed back all the charges owed to us and the bank have agreed to pay them back, the down side to this is that they will only pay them to honour the debt that was made up of these charges. I did post on here for help but got no replies so I contacted the FSO and they have written to the bank telling them to send us a cheque, however this could take upto 8 weeks.

    Regards
    Vikki

Vikki, are you claiming everything that you can claim for? For example, are you claiming Local Housing Allowance?

aya vicki. been reading a few of your posts....must ask the question, with your problems, why are you promising parties you cant afford, and booking holidaysicon. you are making stress for yourself. believe me, i have had the same problem. i was trying to bring up four kids, not easy...but i took control. ..i worked three jobs a day. one early morning one when they were in school and one evening. i have lost count of the dirty loos i have cleaned, but it put three of them through university and into good jobs. and these days there is free nursery care...i relied on family and friends. i am still struggling now but wouldnt have changed a thing.
try some of these....four kids...there must be loads that they have grown out of....toys no longer used....stuff you dont use anymore.....have a car boot. i have done that and earned 200.00 quid in a morning....or even put it on loot. its free ads.
worst comes to worst, cancel your broadband and sell your computer. that will give you what you need and then you can replace when you are in a better position. life is hard but we are the only ones who can work ourselves out of what we are in. theres no magic answer. i have felt down chairs before now to try and find enough to get the kids tea...it will never be life changing, but you can work your way out. good luck to you

Vikki, If the girls are missing school trips, have a quiet word with school office or head teacher. Most schools have funds that can be used to pay for school trips if families can't afford them.
    Best wishes, C
