Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
hello please can someone give me some advice on what i can do .
i got a dvd combi tv 2 weeks before xmas and it kept freezin like a pc crashes after 5mins of plugging it in only way to turn it off and on or turn channels ,vol etc.. was to turn it off at the plug . after having it and paying for it for 3weeks and not working my partner said to ring them to get them to look at it or repair .
week later brighthouse came to collect but never left me with a replacement as stated in the agreement , 2weeks later still no tv or calls from them so i called them to ask when i will be getting it back because i am paying for something i don't have was told it could take upto 3weeks
ok i said 2weeks later still no tv called them again same man i spoke to last time he said still not repaird could take upto 6 weeks now ,i said to him you said 3 weeks last time i rang ,he said it was not him i spoke to ok then i said .
8 weeks down the line now and still no tv or calls from them regarding the repair and i am still paying every week never missed .so i call them again they don't no what to say to me and just say they will ring me back later or tomorrow but never do.
12 weeks now still no tv or calls so i rang brighthouse customer services and they said that they have already broken the terms and conditions in the agreement by not leaving me with a replacement and they will call my local brighthouse and speak to them about maybe giving me some discount . but still never heard anything more about my discount and when i asked my local store they said they did not no anything about the discount.
called again week later then again and again
then 15 weeks and i got a phone call yesterday 22/05/09 saying they are bringing my tv back tomorrow 23/05/09 thats today set the tv up and it does not freeze anymore but now the sound go's off after a couple of minutes so ive got my tv back that ive been paying for 15 weeks when i never had it ,and now still does not work and i don't want to keep paying for something i can't use but don't want to just give it them back and lose all the money ive already paid even thou ive only had the tv for a totol of about 3weeks but 3weeks of not working .
i would like my money refunded and they can have the not working or ever working tv back do you think i could get a refund
I think it's a reasonable request - I would advise that you write direct to head office - do everything in writing - over the phone tends to lead to false promises etc
I am a layperson and have no legal training but I do have an iota of common sense (sometimes)
Welcome Finance PPI -----> over £3k court case filed SETTLED
Park Motor Finance -----> incorrectly logged default on credit file claim for compensation
Lloyds Tsb ----> plenty of things all filed with Financial Ombudsman or Small Claims ----> settled by paying me full amount sought 02/05/09
Was the TV new and what make is it? If you have Optional Service Cover then i would suggest returning the item and cancelling the agreement. You can write to the manager of your local Brighthouse Store informing him that you want a TV that works. Make sure you send a copy to head office.
Brighthouse are a nightmare. I have had many problems with them.
